If you make a purchase from us during a cold spell, be assured we're keeping an eye on the temperature in your area before we ship. Often during transit, vehicles with packages are left unheated and outside overnight, in addition to sitting outside in mailboxes for an afternoon. Our bottles are durable, but they do contain liquid, and after several hours in sub zero temperatures, they'll likely freeze. This can cause the caps to fail due to expansion of the sealed bottles. We may contact you after purchase to see if we can hold shipping on your purchase for a few days, or recommend a refund and a repurchase when temperatures warm up a bit.
If you have any questions about shipping to your area, please contact us at candace@calmingbottles.com and we'll try our best to work something out for you! Priority shipping is available, as is the addition of a warming pack if shipped that method.
]]>We'll be replenishing our stock (especially Frozen - what's going on there?) as well as trying to work up and photograph some new ideas for 2019. Are there any colors we don't have that you'd like to see? Drop us a line at shop@calmingbottles.com and let us know.
]]>They're all different, they're all individuals, and they develop in their own time. You'll get there, parents. I promise.
]]>This Friday I’ll be working with a friend of mine, taking a new series of photos for The Calm Mom’s new bottle offerings. I’ll be dragging out the GOOD camera for these new bottles. Check out the description of them here. This means listings for the new bottles should be going up this weekend!
Taking photos for these bottles is always an event – we want to be able to get them with a white background, but accurately represent the colors ALSO while catching them mid-motion. It’s… involved.
However, this time I’ll also be helping out a friend of mine, which should make things a lot more fun. He has an Etsy shop and needs some photos taken. At least his items don’t move.
He makes AMAZING items that are recycled from computer parts, saving these things from a landfill. He started doing some of these around our office a few months ago (we do have a regular full-time job besides our side-gigs, which takes up far too much time), and they’ve started selling very well! Even more importantly, he has a reason. From his about page:
I have always enjoyed “tinkering” with things. Taking them apart and creating something from what most would call trash. Landfills are overflowing around the world with electronic materials. I hope by creating pieces of art from electronic “waste” we can help keep the world a little bit cleaner!
The bracelets that I make are for a purpose. I need to sell 2500 of them to be able to afford surgery. Slow and steady wins the race!
Check out some of his creations:
He also does custom orders: maybe you can convince him to make a sheep? He’s not listening to me.
]]>I’ve spent the last year trying to catch up on some explosive growth, streamlining our processes and recipes, and generally getting things done. A few larger schools have requested bulk orders, which has been great, and kept me more than busy. However, people have been asking for something new and I’ve been getting a bit restless – it’s time to shake things up a little bit! (ha, haha, haha, sorry.)
First, I’ve brought back our Princess Pink bottle for the summer due to more than a few requests to start carrying it again. I’m only stocking this one as long as my current supplies last, so if you’re interested, you can purchase it in either store.
In addition, I’ve been plotting and planning. It seems I do my best thinking while getting a massage – I’ll have to try that again and see if I get any more bright ideas.
Just in time for summer, I’m working on some new colors and designs. Hopefully they’ll match the warm weather we’re waiting for (58 and rainy for Memorial Day weekend doesn’t cut it).
Lemon Chiffon (Filled with light yellow glitter, sliver flake, translucent flake, and fruit.)
Orange Creamsicle (Filled with bright orange glitter, sliver flake, translucent flake, and…fruit!)
Lime Sherbet (Filled with lime green glitter, sliver flake, translucent flake, and fruit. So much fruit!)
These three will retail as a set – pack of three, and individually.
Lavender Dreams (Lavender purple glitter with assorted glitter/sequins)
Spring Meadow (Light/translucent green filled with flowers of all kinds)
]]>Sold individually.
One week until the Made in Connecticut Expo which is just enough time to fall into a complete panic! Come visit us rain or shine... it's under 77,000 sq feet of tent space, so you'll stay dry if this interminable rain doesn't stop. Both entrance fees and parking are extremely reasonable, so come on out and enjoy some awesome food trucks, live music, and a great bunch of original items that are made locally!
(I'll be the one whining quietly in a corner somewhere. Evidently my brain decided that ONE WEEK BEFORE THE SHOW is a great time to completely redo everything about my booth and indulge in a healthy bit of self-doubt. Thanks, Pinterest. Thanks a lot.)
]]>Here at Casa de Mom we're gluing, mixing, carting, measuring, and getting creative in expectation for the Made in Connecticut Expo on May 14 and 15. I'll be creating some custom order forms today to take with me and I've been trying to make sure I have more than enough stock for that weekend (and a few weeks beyond, as I'm sure I'm not going to want to look at glitter again for a little while afterwards).
I've got a tent, I've got a chair, I've got a table, and plenty of stock, many bottles of water, lots of sunblock and possibly a hat - so come visit!
We're close to running out of our Princess Pink bottles, as well - I'll have some with me, I think, but we're officially now out of the glitter needed to make them. I've been working to make mixes of the bottle contents to speed up the creation time as well. My kitchen looks like a four year old's princess fantasy came to life:
Yes, those are gallon size bags filled with sequins. Yes, I have a sparkly vacuum. I've also officially given up and I now buy two pounds of glitter in one color at a time. This at least allows me to stretch my glitter purchases to every few months.
We're also going to be bringing a selection of necklaces that are for adults - these are beautiful and unique glass globes filled with glitter shiny lovelies - both suspended in water, and on their own. Come check them out! They all come in lovely gift boxes, perfect for that special someone. We have both 32" and 20" silver snake chains in stock.
(Please note necklaces are NOT suitable for children, or anyone under 13. While they are quite sturdy, they ARE made of glass.
